I did have that problem. I tried to hardwire the correct device in the preseed, but it still didn't work completely. I figured that it was good enough for what we were doing.

I was wondering if you were able to successfully install the grub on the MBR of the disk where you are installing the linux without any user prompt/interaction.

For me grub-installer prompts for which device to install grub, since when installing from USB, it finds two mass storage device - the USB stick and the hard disk the linux is installed on. I am looking for ways to automate this so that it figures out the device to which linux is being installed and automatically select the bootdev for the grub.

Any experience with this ?

I think my favorite was the version of MI fight song we had. When I moved to MI and got a job at University of MI (which I called Michigan and everyone around me called it U of M which made me think of MN) everywhere I looked I could only think of the fight song (Bucky style) cuz they had their version posted all over the place in the hospital and on the billboards!
